See You in June!

Wow – April absolutely flew by! In general, I think this year is flying by. So many books, so little time!

Which brings me to today’s post. I’ve decided to put BiblioSmiles on a hiatus for the next month so I can focus on working on the second draft of my YA novel. Between working a full-time job and maintaining a blog (while also still trying to have a social life), I’ve let the project that’s most important to me fall by the wayside.

I encourage you to stick with BiblioSmiles for more great content starting in June, and I urge you to consider submitting a piece of your own! Whether you want to share a book review, an Anatomy of a Bookshelf post, or a personal essay, I’d love to have you on the team! I will be checking email at bibliosmiles@gmail.com during the month, so feel free to drop me a line.

Thank you for reading along and understanding as I take this time to write. And hey – did you know that there have been about forty contributors on BiblioSmiles so far? That means there’s a heck of a lot of posts that you can go back and read! Visit the About page and click on a contributor to read their posts. Or why not try a category like Personal Essays, Interviews, or The Reading Life?

I will also still be sharing posts on the BiblioSmiles Instagram here.

Happy reading, everyone!  See you in June!

The First Chapter

You know the feeling you get when you’re finally holding a copy of that book in your hands? You know: the book that you’ve been on the library waiting list for? The book that’s had you camped outside the Barnes & Noble, when you’ve desperately needed to pee but you didn’t want to lose your place in line? When – at last!- you get to hold that book in your hands and admire the dust jacket, and thank goodness – after all this time of waiting – you get to flip to page one? That’s how I feel today.

The idea for BiblioSmiles has been fluttering around my brain for a while now, but it only started to take shape a few weeks ago. As a writer and avid reader, I love sharing my thoughts and opinions on books. Rather than just adding another book review blog to the long list on the internet, I wanted to try something different.

In the same way that some may like to read about other people’s beauty routines – what products they use, what salons they go to – I’ve always been fascinated by other people’s “reading lives.” What book do you recommend to every person you meet? How do you really feel about the movie version of that novel? Where’s your favorite place in the world to curl up and lose yourself for a few hours in a good book?

BiblioSmiles is a site dedicated to the reading life. While you’ll find book reviews here, BiblioSmiles is also a place to share personal thoughts on the importance of reading. Reading may be a solitary experience, but the joy we receive from it should be shared.

Though BiblioSmiles is a new site, I envision it becoming a community for those excited about reading. Whether you want to find the next book to add to your “must read” list, or you’re looking for essays to make you laugh, smile, or think, BiblioSmiles is here to provide. Let’s celebrate books and all the happiness they bring.

Stop by often and check out new posts from fellow readers. BiblioSmiles is open to contributions of reviews, essays, and posts celebrating all things book-related. Interested? Head on over to the Submit page.

Thanks for reading!  Be sure to follow BiblioSmiles on Facebook and Twitter… and share us with all the readers in your life!
